FHU Language Center

Our goal is to support all members of the Jewish community, including immigrants from Israel, Ukraine, Latin America, and other regions, in enhancing their English language skills. We also offer a specialized programs for Rabbis, Rebbetzins, and their families, providing focused linguistic training on Torah-based vocabulary to help them deliver lectures and communicate effectively within their communities and beyond. We foster a Torah-based environment that encourages learning, growth, and connection across diverse backgrounds.

Program Description

The FHU Language Center offers a specialized English as a Second Language (ESL) programs tailored for members of Jewish community, inculding a dedicated program for Rabbis, Rebbetzins, Rabbinical students, and their spouses who wish to improve their English proficiency.

Our online classes are designed to provide practical language skills, focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with an emphasis on communication relevant to their roles.

  1. Group Language Lessons

    • What We Do: Provide online group English lessons focusing on conversational skills, public speaking, reading comprehension, and writing.

    • How We Help: Group settings foster a collaborative learning environment, allowing participants to practice language skills in a supportive peer setting.

  2. Volunteer-Based Initiative

    • What We Do: Offer a supportive environment where volunteers teach English to members of Jewish community, with a special program for Rabbis, Rebbetzins, Rabbinical students, and their spouses, fostering a connection between educators and students.

    • How We Help: Volunteers provide dedicated teaching and support, adapting lessons to meet group learning needs.

  3. Flexible Learning Environment

    • What We Do: Offer online group classes, allowing participants to learn in a way that suits their schedules.

    • How We Help: Flexible class times and locations accommodate the busy lives of our participants.

  4. Program Schedule and Fees

    • Frequency: Group classes are held three times a week for six weeks, followed by a one-week break, with the cycle repeating.

    • Fees: The program costs $90 for the summer session and $200 for the 8-week sessions.

    • How We Help: This schedule allows for intensive learning with a built-in rest period, helping participants consolidate their skills before the next cycle.

  5. Cultural Sensitivity and Torah-Based Approach

    • What We Do: Ensure that all lessons respect the cultural and halakhic considerations of the participants.

    • How We Help: Language instruction is integrated with a sensitivity to Torah values, allowing participants to learn in a familiar and respectful environment.
