TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
At Florida Hebrew University, we are dedicated to providing an academic environment that aligns with our Torah values. To ensure all students have the necessary technology to participate in online courses and maintain a safe digital environment, we have established the following technology requirements and guidelines.
Technology and Hardware Requirements

Hardware Requirements

Computer: A desktop or laptop computer with a minimum of 8GB RAM, Intel i5 processor or equivalent, and 256GB SSD.

Operating System: Windows 10.11 or higher, macOS 10.14 or higher, or a compatible Linux distribution.

Internet Connection: Stable broadband connection with a minimum speed of 10 Mbps.

Peripherals: Webcam, microphone, and speakers/headphones for online classes and meetings.

Printer/Scanner: Access to a printer and scanner is recommended for submitting handwritten assignments.

Software Requirements

Web Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari.

Office Suite: Microsoft Office 365 (available for free to enrolled students) or a compatible alternative (e.g., Google Workspace).

PDF Reader: Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF reader.

Antivirus: Up-to-date antivirus software is required for all devices.

Video Conferencing: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other platforms as specified by course instructors.

Smartphone Guidelines

Smartphone Usage: Smartphones can be used for Zoom instruction. However, their use is optional and depends on the student’s family preferences and minhag.

Filters for Smartphones: Just like computers, smartphones must also have kosher internet filters installed.

Program-Specific Requirements

Tzniut Fashion Program: Students in the Tzniut Fashion program need to have CAD (Computer-Aided Design) or Taylornova (https://tailornova.com/price) software installed. This software is available at a discounted student rate.

Data Backup and Storage

Data Backup: It is recommended that students back up assignments and lecture notes by emailing them to their own email address or storing them on a cloud service.

Cloud Storage: Students can use Google Docs or other cloud services such as Dropbox, OneDrive, or iCloud to ensure their data is safely stored and easily accessible.

Purchasing Computers

Discounted Apple Computers: Students can purchase Apple computers at a discounted student rate through the university’s partnership with Apple. Details on how to access this discount will be provided upon enrollment.

PC Purchases: Currently, there are no negotiated discounts for PC purchases, but students are encouraged to shop around for the best deals. Recommended specifications are listed above to assist in making a suitable choice.

Students are expected to comply with these technology requirements throughout their enrollment. Regular checks may be conducted to ensure adherence to our guidelines, especially concerning the use of kosher internet filters.
