Religious Exemption Status

Florida Hebrew University (FHU) is a legitimate, independent religious university providing a complete educational path grounded in Torah values and ethical scholarship. As a religious institution, FHU operates under the Florida Statute 1005.06(1)(f), which recognizes religious‑education institutions exempt from state licensure and accreditation. This framework lawfully allows FHU to grant degrees in fields that integrate secular learning with Torah‑based study.

To reflect that status and mission, each FHU degree includes the religious modifier “Torah‑Based,” clearly identifying the university’s educational philosophy and regulatory standing.

FHU’s academic mission is to unite intellectual inquiry and spiritual growth. Our curriculum and pedagogy cultivate proficiency in both general and Torah‑based disciplines, preparing graduates to contribute thoughtfully to their communities and professions.

This approach ensures that while FHU fulfills its legal obligations under Florida law, it also sustains a distinctive religious and ethical commitment — providing students with an education aligned with Torah mitzvot and Jewish heritage, while equipping them to navigate the complexities of the modern world.
